The Quiet Mixer
The more mixing you do, the more important it is that the mixer be clean and quiet. Tangent mixers are the quietest in the industry.
This 802ax is our simplest mixer, but its noise specs are the same as our top-of-the-line 3216 professional recording console.
All our mixers have an external power supply to eliminate 60-cycle hum. All our mixers have transformerless microphone preamp circuitry, with typical noise levels of -128.5 dBv. Our circuitry is based around a bifet chip, a field effect transistor op amp with a high input impedance and a high slew rate. We add an input filter and compensation network to keep out RIF interference.
Slew rates are typically 13 volts/ microsecond. That's the maximum rate of change of your output voltage when you apply a voltage transient at the input. The higher the slew rate, the more accurate and less smeary your transients and swift attacks.
We use flex-connect bus cable instead of hard-wiring. This has two advantages for you. 1. We can assemble the mixer faster and more accurately, and pass the savings on to you. 2. Flex-connect boards are much easier to service: you can have a part out in minutes.
