DanK offered to show me what Claude design could do. He asked me to send him my favorite ten stories and Claude will design a book.

Why the fuck not.

I’m dwindling away. Google Search keeps reducing the number of my pages that it indexes. I was trying to look at the SpaceX launch online Friday and it was carried on X, nee Twitter, and a window popped up reminding me that I’m permanently banned on X. Anything I post at Facebook vanishes instantly.

Well, I have to press on regardless. Figure something out. Pushing into the nerd universe of Hackerspace isn’t paying off so far. Previously I tried to push into the Science & Engineering Council universe and they rejected me without comment. Well, they seem to have faded out since then–month after month with no meeting because they found nobody willing to speak to the group.

I see that Photothermal has revamped their website substantially. Graphically much more pleasing, but still empty self-referential text telling you nothing. The text on the landing page is 117 words, Grade 15, Ease 10.

The major subhead is “Advancing the frontiers of IR spectroscopy.”

The first sentence of text is, “Photothermal Spectroscopy Corp. is advancing the frontiers of vibrational spectroscopy and chemical imaging with breakthrough Optical Photothermal Infrared (O-PTIR) technology.

See, if they say it twice it must be true. Nobody else in the world is making a device like theirs, as I know from being embroiled with them for a few years, and here’s how they distinguish it from the competition:

This is their low-end model, I suppose–they now have four products, and the other three have much bigger pictures. Mostly featureless boxes. The pictures tell you nothing. “Flexibility for a broad range of applications, with a range of options to address broad application flexibility.”

Well, no sense beating that dead horse. My only contact with the company was through their art director; I was never able to wangle a meeting with the boss. Although the boss used many of the ideas I suggested to the art director. Maybe he didn’t tell the boss that the ideas were from me. Hadn’t thought of that before.
