Easter Egg,

by Pilar Montes

A meadow lush with green grasses, clover, yellow dandelions, blue lupine, and butterflies. Hundreds of eggs are hidden in the grasses.
I am green and hope I am found. Luckily, I have a shiny plastic shell.

Pure excitement as children search for eggs.

Suddenly, a pair of toddler-sized tennis shoes appear and stop. I see white bobby socks, flowered pattern pantaloons and a matching dress.
A tiny hand reaches down for me, barely large enough to grasp me.
As she gently raises me, I see a beautiful, sweet face.
She holds me tenderly and inspects me.
Oh my,
I might be her first ever Easter Egg.
