I particularly enjoy the days when I'm shop-adjusting the Alvarez Artist series guitars because they have such an interesting variety of beautiful woods and inlays and bindins and tone characteristics. I give every guitar a playing test. I string it and tune it and check for buzz and neck straightness. I'll lower or raise the saddle and file the frets to eliminate the last traces of buzz.

I look for smooth, evenly applied bindings on the edges of the body, neck and/or headpiece. Properly applied bindings seal the end grains and keep out moisture to prevent warping or cracking for a good, tight, long-lasting body. All Alvarez Quitars have celluloid or wood bindings-not painted edges like some other guitars.

Every Alvarez guitar is made to our luthier's specifications. When I inspect one, I make sure it meets those specs to the last detail These Artist guitars are special, and I put a lot of work into them, because the customer expects them to be perfect.
